Now, let’s learn how to edit a page and add elements like images and carousels.

To edit a page such as your Homepage:

  1. Go to your shop front at “yourdomain.entcart.com”
  2. Make sure you are logged in – You should see the admin bar at the top of the page.
  3. Click the Edit Page button from the top admin bar to open the page editor.

Page Blocks and Placeholders

First you will see all the page Placeholder Blocks you can edit. They are shown with a dashed border.

You can click any block to edit its Placeholder Plugins.

We are going to start by editing the Product Highlight placeholder block.

Click the Block you would like to edit.

The Page Editor

Here you can edit placeholders by adding Plugins to rows and columns.

The top of the Page Editor shows your active plugins in the Placeholder you clicked.

You can add a new Row of plugins by clicking the Add new row button.

You can add a new Column to a row for side by side plugins, by clicking the green + button on the row.

Edit a Placeholder Plugin

You can place a Plugin in any row or column.

Click the Placeholder you would like to edit. This will open the plugin settings.

We will edit the Product Highlights plugin.

From the Plugin dropdown you can select or change which plugin is active in the placeholder.

Edit the Plugin Settings

In the Title(en) box you can enter the title you would like to show in your store. You can leave it blank for no title.

You can select what type of products you would like to showcase on the page from the Type dropdown. Currently the Product Highlights plugin can show off your Newest or Best Selling products, or a Random of assortment of products.

The number of days in which products are considered New can be set in Admin/Themes –> Configure.

Count lets you set the number of highlighted products that a customer can scroll through. Enter a numerical number.

You can highlight only in-stock items by selecting or deselecting the Only show in-stock and orderable items checkbox.

Remember to save your placeholder by clicking the Save Plugin button. To make your changes live, click the Publish Changes button at the top.

Add a Carousel or Banner

Add a stunning Carousel of images, promos, or category and product highlights.

Click the Placeholder box area that you would like to place the carousel in.

Click the Placeholder Row or Column in which you would like to place the carousel.

Select the Carousel Plugin from the Plugin dropdown.

You can set the width of the Carousel in the Cell width dropdown. The default is Full Width which takes up the entire width of the Placeholder.

The Cell Align dropdown lets you set the alignment of the Carousel in relation to the block.

Click the Carousel dropdown to choose which carousel to use. Carousels can be made in Admin/Carousels. Here are instructions to create a Carousel.

You can set the Carousel as active on your page by clicking the Active checkbox. Deselect it to save your plugin, but hide it for the time being.

Remember to save your placeholder by clicking the Save Plugin button. To make your changes live, click the Publish Changes button at the top.

Edit the Footer

You can edit your Footer by clicking the footer Placeholder box.

Click the Placeholder Column or Row that you would like to edit.

You can add as many Columns and Rows as you want. We are using a 4 column footer.

We are editing the Plugin Footer Text.

You can set the width of the Column in the Cell width dropdown.

The Cell Align dropdown lets you set the alignment of the text in relation to the Column.

You can enter the title of the Column in the title(en) box. Leave it blank for no title.

In the text(en) field, you can enter the text you would like to show in the column. You can use the text editing option including adding links and images.

We have created a vertical menu of Category pages.

Remember to save your placeholder by clicking the Save Plugin button. To make your changes live, click the Publish Changes button at the top.
